Barrie Art Club
The Barrie Art Club was founded in 1949 in the city of Barrie Ontario Canada. Over the past half century it has grown into a vibrant community resource for artists, professional or amateur, and artists-at-heart (those wanting to learn or just wanting to appreciate).
It is an organization that is proud of its volunteers. These members take care of the daily running of this non-profit organization, plan and implement its programs, publish a monthly newsletter, maintain the BAC gallery and still have time to create and submit works to shows held monthly in the gallery. Members may contribute a lot or a little time and it’s always appreciated.
Because the BAC has an open approach to what constitutes art, members exercise their skills in a wide variety of media often volunteering to hold demos and workshops at the gallery. The potential to learn is enormous.
On location painting sessions and paint outs in intriguing and beautiful settings are planned regularly and are increasingly well attended.
Each month at the members’ meeting there is always the opportunity to learn from a guest speaker (usually a practicing professional artist) and to get together afterward to ask questions.
Artists may book time in the gallery for their own exhibitions which generally run concurrently with themed general members shows. And the company is good.
