About the Artist:


Brenda Sharpe spent her childhood and early adult years in the headshotbrendasharpeGeorgian Bay area of Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada.  She was awarded first prize in an art contest for the town of Parry Sound in grade school. A trip to Europe at the age of 16 was a source of inspiration.  In Paris she had her portrait done in charcoal, at Montmarte, giving her an appreciation for academic drawing. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She worked fro 7 years in Commercial Design throughout Canada.  She held positions corporately and did freelance work.

-Brian Atyeo, Haliburton School of Art, Killarney Georgian Bay

-Gordon Perrier, Dundas School of Art, San Miguel, Mexico

-Dianne Hoff-Rome, Mass. USA, course in Italy and south of France

-John David Anderson, Barrie Ontario

-Enrolled in the Academy of Realist Art(formerly Michael John Angel Studios 

 Academy of Art, Toronto and Florence.  Areas of study included

 Bargue Drawing, Charcoal Drawing from plaster cast, Live models,

 Study of the Old Masters reproduction in Oil, Historical Paint

 Techniques for Frames, Portrait commission in Oil

-Attended Art History lectures by Michael John Angel

-Participated in First Open House Show and Sale of Academy


Exhibited oil painting for Silent Auction Event at McLaren Art Center, Barrie, Ontario 

Private art lessons in Barrie and guest artist at Ste. John de Brebeuf Secondary School, Woodbridge, Ontario, 

She paints both in studio and plein air.  Plein air paintings have been in Canada, France and Italy. 

Sales of her paintings have been to clients in Canada, Italy, Belgium and England.
