Artist Statement:

Christine was raised in a neighbourhood of Toronto nestled inside a ring of ravines. Christine spent her childhood covered in leaves and twigs, when she wasn’t falling into the river that split the valley in two. Lake Simcoe was central to Christine’s love of nature, first as a child cottaging in Port Bolster, then as a young adult moving to Barrie and living across from Kempenfelt Bay’s northern shore. Christine’s been an artist for many decades. She considers herself an old studio dawg who loves to learn new art tricks, then share them with her students. Christine’s inspired by the lake and towering clouds that fill her windows. Reflecting the dramatic nature scenes that surround her, Christine’s style is colourful and energetic. Christine’s studio is colourful and energetic, too. Laughter fills her creative space, which is what inspires Christine most. Christine and her husband have been enjoying time in Vancouver lately. The breathtaking scenery they have seen there inspires many of Christine’s paintings, too.
