About the Artist:
Julie Wilson is a local Fibre Artist, using textiles; fabric and thread to create her signature fibre quilted works. Her main creative focus is birds and landscapes. Her work blends traditional fabric quilts and sewing, with contemporary fibre art. Her sewing machine is used as a thread painting tool (free form embroidery) and uses free motion sewing to create unique fibre art pieces. Wilson completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Thompson Rivers University, BC in 2006, a Fine Arts-4-year Advanced Degree with Honours from Georgian College, Barrie, ON in 2002 and also a Design Fundamentals Degree with Honours, Georgian College, Barrie, ON 1998. Wilson is also skilled in various mediums including; drawing, painting, photography and textile arts. Her work is in private collections in Canada, the USA, United Kingdom and South Africa. She lives, works and teaches art in Barrie, ON.
